Metal stamping is mainly classified by process

Stamping is mainly classified by process, which can be divided into separation process and forming process. Separation process is also known as blanking, its purpose is to make stamping parts along a certain contour line from the sheet metal, while ensuring the quality requirements of the separation section. The purpose of forming process is to make the sheet metal plastic deformation without breaking the blank, and to make the workpiece with the required shape and size. In practical production, it is often a variety of processes applied to a workpiece. Blanking, bending, shearing, stretching, bulging, spinning and straightening are the main stamping processes.

Separation process
It can be directly made into plate parts or prepare blanks for other stamping processes such as bending, drawing and forming, and can also be used for cutting and trimming on the formed stamping parts. Blanking is widely used in automobile, household appliances, electronics, instrumentation, machinery, railway, communication, chemical, light industry, textile and aerospace industries. The blanking process accounts for 50% – 60% of the whole stamping process.
